A Play on Flaminga

It's Saturday morning and not much going on here.  After 3 weeks of summer type weather, its chilled down a little, overcast with some light showers.

I look forward to Geneveive's Weekly Zentangle Round-up Weekly Zentangle Roundup #175 on Saturday mornings.

This week there were a few new patterns listed, and one of them was by my Aussie Tangler friend Dorothy Allison (Tied in Tangles)

Here is the link to her latest pattern Flaminga  https://www.flickr.com/photos/31762357@N06/14071191699/

I think its such a cool tangle - Thank you for sharing Dorothy.  It took me a while to get the flow going.  As you can see I smoothed it out a little and made it more compact.

Here is my first ZIA - with a touch of River (by CZT Suzanne McNeill) They remind me of Penguins :)

Here I wanted to do some sort of flower, however something else eventuated - I then added Punzel and Deelite.  The photo took on a blue tinge so I stayed with that colour scheme by framing and edging in blue.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend - thanks for stopping by, please say hi :)

Weekly Challenge #169: String Theory: Circles (2nd entry)

Here's my 2nd entry to this week's circle challenge.  I've used 2 tangles; Pines (by me), and Thumb Printz by Traci Frogley

I've dabbled with special effects here; just felt like it :)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your week has been great :)

Weekly Challenge #169: String Theory: Circles

This week's challenge is to use circles as your string.  I had an idea of what I wanted to do and I knew I wanted to use Sue Jacob's Ditto tangle - I love using it in this way and is a favourite of mine.  The central circle is tangled with my version of Florz and the outside is Deelite

Laura is amazing, even though she and Artoo have been sick, she still manages to come up with another weekly challenge.  I hope they are feeling a whole lot better now.

I hope to have time to finish off another piece I started today.  For now, here is entry number 1.

Thank you for your visits and comments on last week's Diva challenge.  I really do appreciate it.

Weekly Challenge #168 Tangleation Nation: Rain

Yay! Rain is one of my favourite tangles so for this week's challenge I tried to use it in a different way.  I usually use it as a string, which I kind of did, but as circles and I added a couple of lines of Rain as an aura (I think that's what you call it) overall I am pleased with the result.  The paper is Strathmore, Toned Gray sketch paper 5.5 in X 8.5 in or 14cm X 21.6cm.  I used black Uni Ball gel pen, Faber Castell Sanguine and Green Gold brush pens, white gelly roll and white pencil as well as a brown .01 Micron - shaded with a 6B pencil.

I am the Diva's Laura had a fairly busy week, celebrating her 34th birthday, with CZT friends and family.  Happy Birthday Laura!

I hope you are all having a great week - mine has been quite eventful, started the week with a flat tyre, had what you call an Ocula Migraine (an eye migraine) yesterday, a funeral today and I have to be up at 4.30am tomorrow for a workshop in Sydney (work related)

Thanks to everyone for your interest and comments on my blog - I appreciate you taking time to visit.

Enjoy the rest of the week - stay safe :)

My Godiva Story

I wanted to do some more 'Punzel' and came across this inspiring photo on Pinterest.  It looks like some kind of choker.  My drawing doesn't really resemble it, however, I liked the idea of weaving beads into my Punzel.  My drawing turned into some kind of tangelation in that the peaks became chain like.

I did like what was happening here, I thought it was quite elegant in it's simplistic state - then - I don't know what came over me, I added the tangle 'Mak-rah-mee' on the bottom of this piece and to me it looked kind of out of place and I felt the piece was missing something.  Now my piece looked like it needed a face.  So today I added a face (not real pleased but okay).  I should have spent more time in perfecting her features and trying to have both eyes at least the same size.  Oh well, she's special and she's my Godiva.

In it's original state - notice how it formed a frame?

...... and here she is

Thanks for your interest and have a lovely day!

Weekly Challenge #167: DuoTangle Well/Punzel

I loved this challenge! Firstly, because 'Well' is one of my favourite tangles and secondly because the Diva challenged me to use the tangle 'Punzel', one which I avoid at all costs, but somehow it worked for me this time, so now I won't hesitate to use it again :)  Thank you Laura.

I think my favourite version of 'Well' is the one on the bottom right - one that's new to me.

Thanks kindly for your lovely comments and interest in my blog. :)

Pines - new pattern

I drew this ZIA a couple of weeks ago and several people showed an interest and asked me for the name of the tangle.  I didn't have a name and didn't have a step out.

Here is the step out to my newest tangle named 'Pines' (I really wanted to name it Alpine or Alps but those were both taken) I have no idea what those patterns look like as I couldn't find them when I searched, so am hoping my pattern is different.

In this step out I started with pencil (not traditional Zentangle style, I know) and then I have showed it using pen and both styles look fine.

Thank you for your interest - I would love to see your interpretations.

Chechain - a sampling

Here's a few variations of my pattern Chechain and I hope you get a chance to try it too - thank you all for your interest.

:)

Weekly Challenge #166: UMT Diva style

Another use my tangle (UMT) with the Diva http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com.au/

I didn't know where this challenge was going to take me and not even sure I knew what I was doing.  I think I was supposed to fill in the background with more stripes, instead I filled it with flowers.  To take away from the plainess I added a little colour and shaded some.

I hope to check out what others' have done with this new pattern for some inspiration.

Have a great week and thanks for the views and comments)

Chechain - new pattern

Thinking of a name for this pattern got me bamboozled.  A few people made some cool suggestions such as 'tread' and 'bike chain' - others said it looks like some masks - thanks for your input guys.  As for me, I thought of 'Industrious' because it reminds me of hardware such as nuts and bolts and screws but I wasn't big on that name - so the name is now 'Chechain'.

Thank you for stopping by - I hope you had a lovely weekend, it's been so cold and windy here - I think I forgot that it gets cold here coming on winter :)

Weekly Challenge #165: "UMT - Camelia"

This week we have use my tangle - Camelia by fellow Australian Anne Marks from Precious Worker

It's a lovely tangle, one I have used a few times so this challenge gave me an opportunity to study it a little more.  I wanted this piece to not be so structured so I used Tangle Patterns String #102 which by coincidence was also created by Anne.

So, a double whammy, in a good way - thank you Anne, Laura from http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com.au/ and Linda from http://tanglepatterns.com/

The ZIA below started off being this week's entry - you may be able to see the string also #102 but somehow it didn't eventuate - so in my usual way I went with the flow, can you see a young lady?

I'd also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you for all the visits and comments - I'm so sorry sometimes life gets in the way and I run out of time to visit everyone's blogs.

Have a lovely week :)
