Season's Greetings and have a Happy and safe New Year
Merry Christmas and Season's Greetings to all my fellow tanglers. It's been a fun year joining in the Diva Challenges, the Zendala Dares and one or two of Creative Doodling with Judy - will try to do more next year :) I've 'met' some wonderful people, viewed gorgeous works of Art and have learnt heaps. Thank you! Sorry, I've been busy lately with all the holiday fuss, and do anticipate checking out your works I've missed seeing the last few weeks. It didn't help with my pc throwing tantrums either lol. So, to you and your families I wish you peace, love and joy and have a safe New Year. Blessings.

Thanks Laura for another fun challenge.
Heart Strings
The challenge is to do something without using strings. Right up my alley as more often than not, I don't. I like the freedom of doing whatever I think of without being confined to working with a string, but most of all I love the element of surprise. There are times when I wished I hadn't used a particular pattern or I didn't follow the instructions properly and the tangle turned out different to how it was meant, but somehow or other it all comes together :)
So, it got me thinking.... or maybe it didn't as the first thing that came to mind was some text.... not really a Zentangle thing to do (but I usually go with the first thing I think of and take it from there). Little thoughts come to my mind - I say to myself, no, that won't work, how silly! and then I think, so what if it's not perfect - it is what it is and, once I commit, then that's it. I just go with the flow. A lot of you would have seen some of my works - I post them all! The reason is, whatever I have submitted is just another unconscious work - I don't sit there and analyse my work but I do wonder - what was this all about? lol
I love it as they are all part of the experience.
Occasionally, I just use dots on the page and go for it. Other times I start from the middle, or the side - I do turn my work around, seeing it from a different angle and many times the end result is upside down to how I started.
The most intriguing thing for me is my Zentangle 'life' is opposite of my real self. Outside of tangling I am a thinker, an analyser, a procrastinator, always being very careful and deliberate with my words - yet when I tangle I don't do any of that except for example when I'm making a card for someone I think of what I'm going to do before I start. There you have it, a little bit about me :)
So, for this week's Diva Challenge, I thought I would take you on a stage tour of my Zentangle Inspired Art - I called it 'Heart Strings'
Are you ready? here goes......... enjoy the ride! :))
Stage 1:
Please excuse my grammar.... it says 'I often don't use strings - in saying that - this is a string :)
Stage 2:
I used the tangle 'Retro' by Belatrix29/Elena Hadzijaneva, above the text and then I drew a grid for the 'Rose' pattern by Sandy Bartholemew. At this stage my thought was, I've really made it difficult for myself now! lol ... but... I go on.....
Stage 3:
Added some curves to the outside of Rose. and then some straight lines with tiny hearts on the ends. Yoi, yoi, yoi! it's not going to be a flowy ZIA! :)
Stage 4:
Some 'Zen Buds' by Danni O'Brien (I love doing these!) and a few lines across the way.
Stage 5:
I have to keep it simple now, otherwise I would lose the effect - I added 'Tipple' - one of my all time faves!
Close up 1:
Stage 6:
Time for some colour - I used Prismacolour Premier pencils. Almost finished now :)
If I haven't lost you by now - I thank you :)

Weekly Challenge #94: "UMT v. X: Socc"
I've not come across this pattern and I loved the look at first sight.
This piece is another full on one - must be my mood lately. It's actually a remnant from Beads of Courage week that I hadn't finished :)
Thank you for looking - it is past 2am and really should go to bed - and I will as soon as I upload this pic. I will have more time to view other entries tomorrow night :)
Thank you for all my lovely comments from last weeks challenge - they are very sweet and encouraging - they mean a lot to me :)
Have a lovely week Everyone!!

I hope you're having a smooth weekend. Mine is just about over.
I've still much to learn about Blogging. Okay, so I've figured out some things and the glitch in the system is fixed and I am now able to post pics......and on my pages.... BUT...... I do have to figure out where I wish to add new posts. So, I decide to add a break and post above the previous posts. That's okay too, however, if someone wishes to comment on a post, then they have to scroll down, way past the posts and all previous posts - not quite what I want and I'm sure it would be an inconvenience, plus, I wouldn't necessarily know which post the comments refer to.
Is anyone out there Blogger savvy - HELP!!
Wishing you all a great week - take care :))

Well, it seems that I was only able to post one - yes that's right, just one pic yesterday!! I was so excited when the picture was uploaded. I've been trying for months now. The only way I can post pics is via Flickr. That can be a good thing, however, I was alerted to the fact that when I do that, it takes the viewer to my 'Home' page - oh! oh!! bad girl!! sorry guys, I had no idea that was happening as I post the URL connected to the pic.
That said, I decided to add a few more pics, under the relevant pages. No such luck!! problems again! was trying all day hoping the little gremlins went away.
So, now it's Sunday morning - and I tried again (not giving up). Hooray!! Yipee!! Yee-Haa!! it worked (seems like I have a small window of opportunity - so I uploaded several) - not having time to write any notes - no way Jose, gotta post some more pics.
Time for breakfast - Vegemite on toast :)
Will fill you in - let's see how successful today will be.
Cheers!!

Gel pens - this is much brighter in real but I do like these colours too. I usually start a ZIA during my lunchbreak and finish it off when I get home from work - couldn't think of a title - thanks for looking :)

The Pillow -
Copada, Blossoms
I wanted to go beyond the string and still use the same pattern - the middle section reminded me of a pillow. so we have some pretty wallpaper, curtain material and another round cushion and the black and white section could even be a wicker chair :))
Weekly Challenge #92 String Theory v.XIV Stripes 2.0
The first thing to come to mind was an abstract painting with strips. So here is my interpretaion of this week's Diva challenge Weekly Challenge #92: String Theory v.XIV "Stripes 2.0"

Zendala Dare 2 #28
Here is my 2nd entry for this week's Dare ( www.thebrightowl.com with Erin)
This is very different to my first one - has a light and airy feel to it, I think. Thank you for looking :)
Zendala Dare 1 #28
This week is Dare #28 - I found out about Erin at The Bright Owl back in April or May and I've managed to do every single one of them, albeit some not posted on her Blog as I had to catch up :))
here is the latest. Please visit www.thebrightowl to see what others have done. Thanks for looking :))
Lilly
I used Prismacolour pencils - still have lots of shading practise to do. I get mixed up between the actual colour of the flower, where it needs to be in colour, but not necessarily shaded for shadow - if that makes sense!! lol - thanks for looking :))

Weekly Challenge #91: "Beads of Courage"
Beads of Courage is a wonderful charity that helps a child with a chronic illness or condition to tell their story of courage and strength as they take their medical journey. Thank you Laura for another great challenge :)

A couple of patterns that came to me whilst on the phone yesterday. Gella reminds me of little stick men and Zoose reminds me of those top hats out of Dr Suess' children's books. enjoy! :))

for Darlene
I started this birthday card several months ago and then I couldn't remember where I put it. Seeing as I needed it this week I decided to search more thoroughly. The background is a version of 'X-glass' out of Sandy Bartholemew's Book, Yoga for your Brain. Thanks for looking :)

Missy Moo String #1
Here's another tangle using Pattern String No.1 - haven't entered this in The Diva's Weekly Challenge as I have 2 entries already. After using the pattern Cayke around the loop, I added these crater type pattern, and out came Missy Moos eyes, so from then on, String #1 became a girl!

Cheeky Crabbles - Weekly Challenge #88: "Official Tangle: IX"
Earlier today I started this piece and when I saw what this week's Challenge was I added the Tangle called 'IX'. I did do a practise run several weeks ago, but never really included it as a tangle as I thought the pattern was quite limited. I was thinking of ways to make 'IX' look like it belonged in this underwater scene. The large one at the top of the page was my first, then I started the one on the bottom and as I started to add the layers, an abdomen started to appear, so then I went along with it. Later on, I decided to add the flowy tentacle looking lines to fit in with the theme. Thank you for looking.
You can find more entries for this week's Challenge here, at Laura's iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com.au/
Oh, I almost forgot; being a real busy piece, I added some blue, here and there (the pic doesn't show it too well though) to lighten it up a little :)

Pinwheel for International Day of Peace - 21 September
Weekly Challenge #87: "String Theory v. XII: Pinwheels for Peace v.II"
Last year for International Day of Peace, we dedicated the weekly challenge (#40) to creating Zentangled Pinwheels inspired by this great website Pinwheels for Peace. Pinwheels for Peace originally started as an art installation organized by two high school teachers in Florida. They used the project as a way to teach kids how to express their feelings about the world and what's going on in it. Since then, it's grown from 500,000 pinwheels the first year to 3.5 million last year!!
Here is my first pinwheel - tangles used: Apple Blossoms and Twisted Ribbons by Suzanne McNeill CZT

Zendala Dare #23a
Hi Everyone
I hope you had a lovely weekend.
This is my first link to Erin's Zendala Dare Challenge from my Blog - YAY!! lol, finally! I am still learning my way around so don't be surprised if 'my' looks change :)
As of this week, new Dare Challenges will now be posted on Saturday mornings - so that will be Saturday night for me (EST Sydney, Australia) - which is also fine with me.
As usual, I printed off all 3 templates and was busy working on them on Sunday. I couldn't get my creative juices flowing for some reason and I hardly used any tangles. I don't know what it is, but I do find these 'Dares' real challenges and this week was no exception. Perhaps it's because I have to work within the boundries, outside my comfort zone, wheras, I like to just go with the flow and not plan my tangles. My first instinct is almost always to do straight linework - I think its because of the symmetry involved (who knows). I think I will do another one, this time giving it a lighter flair.
I also worked on String #18 - again, I'm working against what I am comfortable with (a confined tile), but that is the beauty of these Challenges!! Will post soon :)
Thanks for looking and if you care I would love to hear from you. Enjoy!
Add on: sorry guys, I deleted my pic because I wanted to write a little spiel, but alas, now I can't seem to add it back on (even though it tells me my pic has been uploaded) so I will try to add a link via my Flickr account.
