Easter 2014

Spent the last 2 days cooking, baking and bagging Easter Eggs for my family.

Deelite - New Pattern

Deelite came about as I was trying to draw Judy Murphy's 'Double D' pattern from memory one lunchtime.  That evening I checked her pattern on Tanglepatterns.com and realised it was obviously quite different.  

Even though to me, it is very different, I'm not sure if it's a tanglation or a variation on 'Double D' or if in fact it is a new pattern all together.

I would like to know your thoughts on 'Deelite'.

I do hope you get a chance to try it out for yourself.

There's so many ways to draw this 'D'; right, left, up, down, with 1 loop, with 1 and a half loop, with a double loop, vertically, horizontally, in a straight line, in a curved line, spiral, grid or simply on its own.

In my monotangle example I've shown a number of ways you can incorporate this tangle.

I managed to do another 2 more. here is Sahara - I asked my daughter for a name.  She said it looks African.

Bellamy - my new pattern

I'm playing catch up with some step outs.  I'm always finding bits of paper with sketches of some things that pop into my head.

Introducing 'Bellamy' (the hardest part for me is naming my patterns)

It looks kinda tricky but it isn't really and it doesn't matter if the lines are not the same size which is a plus :)
There's quite a few number of steps but that's because I stretched it out - I could have shown it in less.

Aiming to do at least another step out this weekend.

Tackle it Tuesday - 'G' Tangles

I made a bit of a blue, actually, it's not really a mistake, but I had plans to use one string and enter the same tile in 2 challenges - and guess what! I forgot that 'It's a String Thing' challenge with Adele Bruno was to use String Pattern # 47 with some chosen 'C' letter tangles ( I did the 'G' thing)

I guess that idea goes out the window.  Nevertheless I am entering this tile using string #47 in Cheryl Rotnem's Tackle it Tuesday challenge - using tangles starting with the letter 'G'

Weekly Challenge #162: "String Theory - Initial String"

I'm surprised, Laura's post only came out last night and there are already over 30 entries!  I'm going to make this a quick post as it's way past my bedtime and I have work tomorrow.

Our challenge is to use our initials for our string - you can spot mine from a mile away hehe.

I drew the string last night and tangled my tile tonight.  Seeing it was very dark piece, I added colour as I didn't think shading would suffice.

Challenge #2 - Bubble Artwork with Made by Joey

Boy was I sorry I started this one - it took me all afternoon to draw, colour and fill the bubbles.  I really wanted to do a Portuguese Rooster so I thought I would combine both for this week's challenge.  I wouldn't normally add such a busy background and feel my rooster got a little lost.  Having said that 'Tipple' is one of my favourite fills and it would have been better if I didn't tangle my rooster.  All part of the experience isn't it?

I used copic markers for colour.

It's a String Thing #34

Adele Bruno asked us to use Tanglepattern String #29 with a condition to only use these tangles; 

Sand Swirl  by Karry Heun Sanibelle  by CZT Tricia Faraone Snag  by Jem Miller Shattuck  an official Zentangle® pattern

I'm not sure that I like my tile - a little too one toned.  I should have added some colour or even filled sections of Sanibelle and Sand Swirl, oh well, maybe next time :)

Weekly Challenge #161: "In a Quandary about Quandary"

Late Monday night I saw that Laura had posted this week's challenge.  It's a pattern that never really appealed to me - only because I struggle with it - the tangle is 'Quandary'.  She says it's a practise tangle, and she sure was right about that.  It was too late to start so the next day on my lunchbreak I decided to practise - the only thing was I couldn't remember if it has 5 or 6 petals!  I had a play regardless and then I had a closer look on Tuesday and I discovered it was 6.  Then I read her little trick is to do it in sections, triangle by triangle.  It seemed like a good idea but when I drew it I kind of do the whole 'flower'  I'm going to call it a flower because it looks like one to me :)

Firstly I drew 3 circles and just started somewhere in the middle - I added 'Flowervine' as I thought the two patterns would work well plus to try to give the piece a bit of balance - not sure if I succeeded so I coloured some areas using a blue Copic marker.
